Carolin
New York, NY
I started running as a hobby while in high school, exploring the beautiful calming views of the Cross Bronx & Washington Heights bridges. As I got older, I grew a passion for running & took on the many benefits of doing something I love while staying active.
Running has taken me to many places of the world. I ran my first marathon in 2019 after having my youngest son. I was running races while pregnant. I trained with him while pushing the stroller all across the city. Running TSP will allow me to show women across the world that we are stronger than we think.
Why The Speed Project
TSP is another opportunity to continue showing women around the world that "yes we can"! Joining an all women's team gives us an opportunity for us to all join forces, encourage one another & show women all across the world that we can push ourselves beyond measure.
Building Community
I'm part of the first running crew in the Bronx, Bronx Sole. Running has allowed me to build a wonderful community and given me an opportunity to connect to people who I can call family. TSP is another chance to help promote health awareness & now women empowerment.
Quick Q&A
Get to know Carolin
What's your go-to pre-run fuel?
Bananas, Oatmeal, anything light
What's the weirdest thing you've seen on a run?
At my early stages of long distance running, I ran past someone who had soiled their clothing. I heard stories, but have never witnessed it myself. Hence, don't trust your farts! Lol!
Best running advice you've ever received?
Listen to your body. Always put one foot in front of the other & just keep moving!
What's your power song?
Anything
What keeps you going when it gets tough?
I always remember my mom who I lost a year ago. She is one of the strongest women I know. She got sick towards her last years, & fought to the very end! No matter how much it hurts, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her. I also lost my older brother a year before she passed. He was also inspirational in my life. I always thank God for my guardian angels.
